When I was watching Aquaman I kept getting Green Lantern vibes, even though I hadn't watched it in years. So I went and rewatched it, and they're pretty similar in quality and structure.
I think people are suffering through PTSD from the neverending waterboarding that Zach Snyder calls storytelling. We're all so happy it didn't end with Aquaman screaming, "MARTHA!!!!!" That we're all just giving this high budget B movie a pass.
Meanwhile Green lantern came out 6 months after dark night, and had to be compared to Heath ledger's joker and Christopher Nolan's crazy "make a good movie" business strategy.
