TL;DR focus on the art and not the artist. You could literally go to prison for murder and if I like your stuff I'll listen to it.
This is directly because of the posts about people complaining about X and how he was a horrible human, people are glad he's dead, whatever. I fully understand that he's done some garbage stuff, but I'm still bummed he died because I really enjoyed the music he made, and in my opinion people put too much value into who the artist is rather than what they make.
John Lennon did some shitty things too, but I acknowledge that and focus on the music that he made instead. And where's the people saying that you support domestic abuse if you say you support his music?
Varg Vikernes did some reaaally shitty things, but I like the music he made so I don't really care.
Roman Polanski raped a 13 year old, but I enjoy the films he makes so I don't care.
In some cases, an artist's actions could directly reflect in the form of inspiration for songs or lyrics though, and in that scenario the art and artist can't really be separated as easily, but it still doesn't change my opinion on their content.
