Think about it this way. If you have anything ANYTHING else going on in your life why are you matching your socks. You could:

Do that bit of DIY you've been putting off

Watch a movie you've never seen

Make a cup of tea

Have a bit of 'me' time

Catch up on sleep

Play a video game

Literally anything is more important and valuable than the time you'll waste matching socks out of the dryer/off the line. They're not going anywhere, nobody is going to see them. Fewer people will comment on them. I work in a corporate environment and if anyone says anything about mismatched socks (why the hell are they commenting on my appearance!) it just becomes a conversation starter.
