I definitely have always been less social growing up and had to learn a lot of basic social skills on my own. Pretty lonely childhood, but as I've gotten older I've made some friends and improved. I would still say that I'm a little socially anxious and pretty introverted, but I think I've managed alright.

Mine were the complete opposite. No extended family in the country, no real friends outside of acquaintances. Growing up every holiday we were alone and they picked up extra shifts at work. I do symphathize with them since they came to a foreign country and struggled to speak the language, and unfortunately they had little hobbies as well.
