I'm a 29yo graduate student. I'm the TA for 2 classes this semester, and I'm taking multiple more. I am constantly working on group projects in class, or grading or help people with their papers. Everything is done in G-suite, and all of it is crap. It's CONSTANTLY formatted incorrectly and below the level that I was expected to have as an undergrad, let alone as a graduate student. I'm always sent links to papers instead of actual PDF or read-only DOC/DOCX submissions as I was expected. Multiple times I caught students working on papers as I was grading them.
Microsoft Office is an absolute powerhouse compared to the wimpy web-based crap that G-suite is. I understand that it's less costly for school systems to deal with, and that kids are just handed a chromebook in kindergarten nowadays. Not that long ago high schools offered Office certification courses.
There's minimal tools. there's basically no macros. Formatting is a nightmare. It only interfaces with Google, and can't be integrated with other business software. It's basically KidPix 2023.
The worst part? They absolutely REFUSE to learn Office. It's provided to them for free through the school. They'll just keep choosing the devil they know, even though they keep failing.
