Is this unpopular in America anymore? Iām not sure what todayās youth thinks about this topic and Iām genuinely interested!! My husband and I talk about this frequently as we are both college educated but are first generation college educated.
Some jobs may require degrees, but others donāt. Why are we not promoting the trade schools and jobs? I feel like Iām biased as my family has welders, junk yard owners, etc that do very well for themselves. And if Iām not mistaken trades like plumbing make bank!! Some people donāt want the type of job that needs that ātraditionalā education.
I just hope that the younger generation is not getting discouraged about the college/no college dilemma. Instead, are we promoting another option.
(As a note: I personally think everyone should have access to all options, and not just the privileged. I understand that isnāt a reality in our country right now. I wanted to both acknowledge that and note my biases. I know people have completely different viewpoints on these. But the argument above was about trade school, not access.)
Trades are absolutely necessary and can provide a very good life for you. This is 100% a thing
