All the books are pretty hard, but this one is considered by some to be one of the easier ones, with the argument being that if you fail to complete your mission, you just get to go another round through the titular Forest Of Doom from the start.

I personally don't think this "try again" mechanic is that novel, nor do I think that it makes the game easier. You lose all your items and your stats get reset. If you're playing on an app like me, you lose all knowledge of previous events, so clues don't carry over. I would understand if it was the reverse, with the game letting you eventually finish the book with all your possessed gear and stuff, but this is not the case.

The book's main quirk, the ability to go through the forest "again" if you fail, is basically a disguised generic "Game Over" page, tricking you into thinking your adventure continues, even though you basically chose the restart option.
