I see an inordinate amount of kpop channels and discourse surrounding how “Itzy is in danger,” and how their fans aren’t impressed with their work, especially after “Boys.” I’m expecting this opinion may be divisive, for that reason: Itzy is doing great.
Their albums enter Top 10 on Billboard, regularly. Every single YouTube video cracks 20 million views—most, easily hit 50 million. If you want to hold them to their own standard, you could get really technical, but they are far from flopping and are one of the more successful groups to come out of fourth Gen. I’m confused about the general discourse surrounding them.
Tacking onto that: Your fave group from a big company is probably not “underrated,” and it’s weird to insist that big groups are smaller than they are, in general. Their company treating them badly ≠ they aren’t getting press.
Edit: This applies to every single group that you don’t like, but are pretending is doing badly. Look at sales and if you don’t like it, don’t interact—I don’t know if it’s because the Kpop audience is skewing younger these days, or what, but some of you are so hateful. Enjoy the music, go outside, see some friends. Goddamn 😂
