We would like to point out that since the controversy is recent, there are no official articles yet but that we allow ourselves to do a MG about it since many people seem to want to express their opinion on it.
Therefore, this publication will be updated as soon as we have official, objective and constructive articles.
In summary: During his live on the V-Live application, Yuta (NCT 127) revealed that he has become close to a Youtuber named RHEE.
However, this Youtuber in question is known for its rather problematic behaviour. Indeed, according to some sources, he has denigrated South Korea and Korean women on multiple occasions.
RHEE's deginerating comments towards Korean women and Korea in general are mainly based in the tense relations between Japan and Korea, which have deep historical origins.
For some context on the history behind these two countries, in 1910 Japan annexed Korea after a political struggle. Between 1932 and 1945 forced many Korean women to become military prostitues for the Japanese military, who were known as "comfort women".
Japan has not yet officially apologized for this practice, and this has left the two countries at understandebly tense relations. For more info on what "comfort women" were subject to, please read this article: here.
Following the awakening of this budding friendship, many fans were quick to alert Yuta to the "true nature" of his new friend, who then unfollowed RHEE on Instagram.

Why are people being downvoted for asking for more information on Rhee and his content? Do people have a problem with wanting to be more informed on the issue before making final judgments? I have barely heard from anyone who has watched his content and can point exactly what he said and when that had made me a controversial figure. His recent Instagram posts look like the average guy’s Instagram that even I might have followed him without knowing about anything controversial. This is really starting to seem like the Taeyong situation where people are making gross generalizations and assumptions on an idol’s whole personality and ideology based on lots of hearsay and generalized points. If this situation is really what it is, Yuta fucked up (I’m from a place that has been screwed over by Japan too so I recognize its weight), but until more information comes out that’s legitimate, I’ll refrain from jumping on the hate bandwagon. Thanks.
I just looked at Rhee’s Instagram. Couldn’t find anything obviously problematic at first glance. Can you link some of his posts that may have indicated to Yuta that he’s a problematic person? Genuinely curious.
Is Rheekun really equivalent to a neo Nazi? I still haven’t seen any actual proof pointing to anti Korean things he’s done explicitly that puts him in that category besides the copy paste line calling him Anti-Korean and a misogynist. Also, apparently he’s Korean, which makes things confusing? Idk man. Let’s wait until there’s actual legitimate information out there before blowing things way out of proportion.

Same could be said for the other way around. From what I can see, Rhee’s recent posts both on Instagram and Youtuve doesn’t seem to be particularly problematic. I don’t understand Japanese so I’m going to wait on someone who can speak it to make any judgments on how much Yuta could have known. Logically speaking, no person with a brain would put themselves in such a situation knowingly.
