As a European, when I watch it, I see a lot of american hip-hop/street style in K-pop artists (the way they look, dance, etc). The music is a bit more pop (probably with more house/electronic sounds here and there), but the overall look spreads so much American vibes. I've read that most K-pop artist have American producers/choreograph which would explain it :/ I mean even the name of many Kpop groups are English words... So Korean...
Well thatâs what happens when the US basically colonized you I guess the US still has a lot of influence on SK because of their army. Using a blend of English and the mother tongue is a common trend in a lot of other colonized countriesâ music as well.

Letâs not pretend the US did not colonize the Philippines and Hawaii, among other places. In the 20th century, when colonialism was getting a âbad repâ, the word imperialism became more popular, but the consequences are the same. Itâs colonialism (same as whatâs happening in Africa now with China) even if it looks different from the traditional sense.
