A sizable amount of KPop stans don't really care for many of these social movements.

I know this has been said so many times already, but I hope the mods still let this through since this is really important. I'm going to use ARMYs as an example coz it's the most recent one.

First some context. I'm Filipino and to give just a very short gist of what's going on right now, basically our Congress fast tracked an "Anti-Terror Bill" which gives the police the power to detain anyone they suspect to be a terrorist for 14 days without any warrant, and if it's proven that you were not a terrorist, you won't be compensated for the time you spent in detainment, even though normally that should be the case. So right now all over social media, especially on Twitter, the hashtags #JunkTerrorBillNow have been trending at number one for the most part. But as of the time I'm typing this, a BTS hashtag is trending number one.

A few hours before this, ARMYs also trended "I stan the right group" all over Twitter after BTS voiced out supported #BlackLivesMatter. This ticked me off earlier, because again, it should not be about them, it should be about the movement. But with this new BTS hashtag trending at number one, now I'm pissed. The country we're living in are experiencing constitutional, democratic, and human rights crises, yet they choose to trend these hashtags. If they're really happy that BTS supports these movements, then they should voice out their support for these movements. But right now, it seems more like they're capitalizing on their support so that more people will "respect" or "stan" them.

Of course, "not all Armys" but we all know that already, obviously not all of them are like that. Many have been voicing out their support for the movements I've mentioned and that's great. But a sizable amount choose to trend these useless hashtags instead of the more pressing ones.

I hope this doesn't offend you if you're an ARMY, because you shouldn't be. Lives are at stake right now, we don't need these BTS hashtags trending over societal issues.

UPDATE 1: Right now, #SupportAntiTerrorBill is number one, but don't worry, it's just K-Pop stans trending it by sharing fan cams. This is the type of energy I think we'd all prefer haha.

UPDATE 2: People are spanning that hashtag with fan cams so much that it's now filed under "Kpop" instead of politics.

UPDATE 3: Alright this is going to be the last update, but please sign the petitions and help us out! We really need the support right now more than ever. The link to the petition is found on the replies but I'll link it here too for easier access. https://junkterrorbill.carrd.co/ To those who already signed, thank you so much for the help guys, it really does mean a lot. #JunkTerrorBillNow

As someone from Hong Kong, I can say this is true. No matter how "woke" Kpop stans claim to be, they'll still put money in the pockets of Jackson or Lay over the HK protesters. I think if anyone wants activism, don't look at Kpop, regardless of how connected the genre may be to some of these issues.
