Teaching Assistant

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone who has worked as a teaching assistant could share their experience of what it was like? Also, when were you emailed to know if your application was successful?
I have applied to be either a Statistics or Maths teaching assistant but I haven't heard anything yet and semester is starting soon. TIA
EDIT: I got an offer now :) Funny how that happens haha. I'd still be keen to hear how other people found the role.
