Ruby into Apollo Twin (question)

Run a ruby into an Apollo for most of my at home guitar playing, sounds great.
Is it better to have the pedal output high and use low pre amp gain or run the pedal around mid output with medium preamp gain. They both sound good just wondering what others go with. Thanks
