I have recently begun to create a compendium of British folklores that I wish to write up and put together so that our heritage of these stories can live on like they should do, to show people the morales that they should grow up with or aspire to have. I currently have the story of the Gytrash for Manchester but if I get more interesting stories then I may change my decision. I want to hear the stories from your youth and the ones you/your parents were told that are from where you live, if I would like to include it I will message back with my interest. If you could post where the folk lore/tale is from and a brief summary then that would be amazing
Edit: I’m looking more for stories that you only really hear about in certain parts of the country, so more indigenous stories that aren’t widely known
As for the type of folklore, I’m looking more for older stories like the ones your parents might have been told, maybe even ones that sound as old as stories like red riding hood, but I accept that might not be possible. As I said I’m just looking for suggestions really at the moment for older pieces. With this in mind I shall edit the original post so others aren’t so confused.
