Do you think it would be good if the UK had a 'Daily Show' / 'Last Week Tonight' style show?
Post Body

Since John Oliver has started his stint on 'Last Week Tonight' over in the US, it's been a smash hit. He has asked lots of awkward and important questions about the country and how it is run. It feels like with his measured and engaging critique, it is actually getting something done.

Would the UK benefit or even appreciate a daily / weekly show about UK current affairs hosted by a comedian/engaging anchor?

Now obviously channel 4 has tried something with 10 O'Clock Live but overall it failed to progress on subjects with debates being a shouting contest and various segments falling flat due to the live nature of the show. Also, Charlie Brooker has News Wipe which is the closest we have to this type of show however, the seasonal format of the show holds it back from having a constant voice.

I think it'd be a great addition to the national conversation and with the sort of journalistic style of Last week tonight it could start some real conversations.
