So I was sent a tax return, even though I'm just an employee, and didn't realize I had to pay until now.
Post Body

I have been on PAYE as an employee the last tax year. However, I was sent a tax return. I DID NOT KNOW I HAD TO FILL THIS IN. The law states that you have to file a return if you're sent one, period. There is some confusion online about this and I wasn't aware of it until today...

It was only until today (the 8th June) I received a penalty reminder fee in the post that I was made aware that I even had to fill in an assessment.

This is the first fee notification I've had. So I owe well over £800 before even realizing I was obligated to pay.

I will file the return asap, although I now have a painful wait of up to 7 days to receive my activation code in the post so I can file the damn return.

Does anyone know if I have rights to appeal the fees based on lack of notification?
