Got my boss to OK a $200 upgrade to Econ Plus for my flight back MAD-EWR. I always look at the insane upgrade fees for Polaris and PP and cry in poor when I bump myself up. PP was listed at $247.... Polaris $5866.
Did a double-take and booked it. Instantly got an email titled "Your MileagePlus® account information has been updated" with zero actual information, just saying to call the service center. After 15 minutes on the phone with a wonderful agent (mostly on hold), they honored the price, since I'd already been charged.
Turns out it should have been $2470.
And I thought I won big on the 3 CPUs to first I got on shitty little commuter hops this year.
As a bonus, I'll hit Gold on this flight 🍾
The customer service agent literally told me it was a mistake. She pushed me through two levels of supervisors to get it approved.
Anyway, a regular price fluctuation wouldn't immediately lock my trip out in the app, and tell me to call CS.
Congrats on your score by the way! I've never seen transatlantic PP for that low.
Huh. Good to know. I do this flight 2x a year so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it. Still confused as to why it blew up my entire app, but I'll take it.

PP was floating right around $3200 for the duration of my two weeks over here. Because I am that nerd who checks every day or two. They definitely dropped it down to $2500 and somehow lost a zero in the process.
