I have booked a Basic economy round trip ticket with AirCanada YUL-SFO round trip. YUL-SFO is AC and site says I have one carry on and one personal item. I booked using AirCanada site and I was shown this baggage rules and I was okay. Now when I see baggage rules for United, it doesn’t include carry on and only personal item for basic economy.

So I have to pay for carry on or check in my baggage for United SFO-YUL trip? Have I got myself into this without checking the details in detail before booking the ticket? I tried calling United twice, both the agents gave different answers. One said she can see carry on in my ticket, but the other said I have to pay.

I’m confused now.
