I found out Thursday during my layover in Denver that my grandfather passed away. This was probably about 20 minutes before boarding opened, so I was definitely not in great shape when I got to my seat. I was seated next to an FA, who was extremely sweet as I was trying to hide my crying (just proud of myself for not breaking down in the terminal - luckily I had a window seat so it wasn't super obvious to anyone not sitting directly next to me, but still).
Somehow I managed to nap, and when I woke up, there was a pile of snacks and this lovely note next to me. I will be making a formal compliment with United for her and the whole FA crew. Just wanted to share a very touching and positive experience that really made a dark day a lot brighter.

That's absolutely my plan. Their compassion was such a blessing and they absolutely deserve recognition for going above and beyond. I just need to help my mom through the arrangements and funeral first.
