Waiting for the Athens flight out of Newark now. They've sold 2 more seats than they have and have been looking for volunteers since yesterday and they're still looking. Anyone know how they decide who to boot?
Generally they'll keep upping their offer until someone volunteers.
I deplaned once for 2000 and first class on the next flight. Turned out that wasn't available so I got them up to 2500. The starting offer before boarding commenced was 500. So when they get desperate, they really will start throwing out crazy numbers. Really happy I wasn't in a hurry on that trip.
If I have the flexibility, I'll volunteer for anything above 400 - makes personal travel a lot easier.
