Post Body

I may be kicked off this sub for asking this but it is an honest question.

Please explain: you apply for a job. You get an interview. You are questioned and ask questions. You are told you have the job and will get paid ‘this’. You join the union. Then you go on strike (as a whole union, not individually; I understand that) for more money.

Isn’t that a violation of the agreement that you made with the employer that ‘I will do [this job] for [this] amount of pay’ ?

If the union is there during the hiring process advising you, I could understand. But you get the job, work, join the union, then demand more. And you cannot just be fired for breaking that agreement because you ARE a union member now.

I just don’t understand how you could agree to work for that pay then say ‘no, I want more’ after getting the job and joining the union.

Not trying to fight; just trying to understand.
