As an avid boxing fan and amateur boxer myself, I really enjoy boxing media/entertainment let it be actual fights, movies, posters, and video games. Growing up playing the Fight Night games got me to love the sport even more. When early access came out I was incredibly hyped that a new boxing game will take over after a decade of false hope for a new Fight Night.
The first few games were pretty amazing not gonna lie. Being able to use updated boxers (even though the roster could be better) was a cool feeling, but going through months of playing this game and eventually progressing career mode got me rethinking if this is a worthy successor of FN Champion. You just don't feel the same intensity of being in a fight, punches feel sluggish even when using high-level boxers. Throwing combinations are pointless either because it's not very responsive to what button you press or the movement is slow af (could be both). Commentators aren't accurate with what's actually going on like getting knocked by a hook to the head then they talk about the pain of a liver shot. It would be cool to hear your trainers shouting at you on what to do during the fight just like in real life. Customization options are also pretty wack I'm sure other boxing fans would agree the equipment you use matters and you wanna be dripped out in the ring. Gloves are the same model you only pick the logo you wanna display on it and the trunk designs remind me of pajamas I had as a kid. It's the little things that could have made this game better.
Definitely needs a lot more work to meet the standards we had from FN Champion and I'm more than willing to give this another shot if SCI does something about it. What are your thoughts on the game's potential?
