I've recently finished Umineko and let's just say after reading the final two chapters I felt like I did not challenge myself enough in the questions arc. You could say I stopped thinking and assumed that all the answers would be given to me on a silver platter in the answers arc.
After reading the final arcs though apparently us witches were supposed to figure out the mystery on our own together with Battler. I feel like this would be very difficult for the average witch but perhaps I would have gotten somewhere if I had gone into Umineko knowing that the reader would be able to solve the mystery with just the questions arc and perhaps the first answer arc.
I'm wondering whether Higurashi (which I haven't read but am planning to) is the same. I know a bit about the setting but not much, is it also like Umineko where the reader is supposed to think along and find solutions grounded in reality? Or is this much more of a classical VN where everything will be perfectly explained in the last few arcs?
