you have to have a very high IQ to understand Umineko. The metaworld references are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of what love means most of the mystery will go over a goat's head. There's also Beatrice's fucked up riddles, which are deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal fanfiction draws heavily from Agatha Cristie's literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these riddles, to realise that they're not just mystifying- they say something deep about LOVE. As a consequence people who dislike Umineko truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Dlanor's existential catchphrase "DESU," which itself is a cryptic reference to Idolmaster. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated <morons> scratching their heads in confusion as Ryukishi07's genius wit unfolds itself on their 16x9 screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
