We're back. Kind of. Clearing out the cobwebs. Much stuff broken. Much stuff coming. More details to come. So much spam.

What happened to the KVM Super Ultrawides? The last ones came out in 2019...

Post Body

Kind of a bummer. I've loved my Philips 499P9H since I got it, and was looking to stack a second one on top, or maybe find a newer model.

But... they don't exist?

There were seemingly only two or three monitors released that are 32:9, 5120x1440, have USB-C charging and contain a KVM dock. Philips, Dell, and I believe LG all released products in this category in 2019.

Philips released two more similar models afterwards that use the same resolution panels and aspect ratios (32:9, 5120x1440), one of which has a much higher refresh rate - but neither of them have a full dock or charging! And with the advent of 16:10 monitors, it would be nice to see some 32:10s with KVMs as well.

The only other products I know of are Dell and LG's offering with similar specs, both released in ~2019. It's been 4 years, and we've gotten bumps in refresh rates to some of these monitors but at the cost of all the useful productivity features. None of the refreshes seem to have the full KVM.

Is it purely a bandwidth issue? I drive my monitor and all its peripherals with a single USB-C cable without issue, and that's only 10Gbps. USB 4 (non-TB) has double the bandwidth, and TB 4 goes as high as 40Gbps. Why isn't anyone creating better office SUWs after 4 years?
