FINE! I'll get my own race! With....Black Jack....and.....
Post Body

So last weekend my first attempt at reaching 50 miles in a race was cancelled. I was supposed to do a 12 hr race during which my goal was to reach at least 50 miles and possible stretch to a full 100k. Well it was cancelled. So I got to thinking, "I could do this on my own. Pick a route, get food/drink/etc, use the house as an aid station, and just knock it out." So I did!

Here are the stats

Total time: 12hrs

Total mileage: 54.82 miles

Total calories burned: 6791

Avg pace: 13 mins 9 secs / mile

Avg Heart Rate: 135

Snacks/nutrition: 1.5 L Tailwind, 5 Honey Stinger waffles, 4 mini cans of Pringles, 10 oz of red grapes, 5 mini cans of coke, 5 meat sticks, 1 Miller Lite, and a lot of water

Post race: 4g BCAAs, 400mg ibuprofen, 200mg CoQ10, 2 cheese quesadillas, 1/2 order of mexican rice, 1 Urban Underdog beer, and 1 Dark Matter Porter. Also 10 hrs sleep

I ended up walking the last 10ish miles or so as my knees just decided to completely revolt. Had they played nice I have no doubt I could have reached the full 100k. I was pretty destroyed that night but was moving around without too much pain the next day. I even cycled to work on Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to get out for some easy runs next week.

Pleased with the way things went overall!
