Verification System

The advisory would like to collect the community's feedback on a potential verification system for hosts on /r/UHCMatches. There have been many different types of verification system proposed previously & you may have a completely different idea than the ones presented here.

The verification system we have in mind involves it being an additional thing hosts can do to earn credibility & general benefits in the hosting scene.

If a host wants to, they could fill a form regarding hosting. A prototype of the form has been written & currently has 3 sections; Hosting Rules, Hosting Commands and Other. Each section has 6 questions. In order to get verified, you must get 4 questions from each section correct. Once a host has passed this Hosting Quiz, they will be given a special flair on /r/UHCMatches that calendars can use to detect if a host is verified (with the json page).

This is an optional process that hosts can go through that will give them benefits within the hosting community. Verified hosts will also be getting a flair on /r/UHCHosts, so users know to trust these hosts. Verified hosts will also become approved submitters on /r/UHCMatches, which will remove them from some of the spam filters. We also have plans for further development with verified hosts.

This update will also come with some rules as far as posting matches go. Some rules we foresee that will need to be added & enforced includes a rule that won't allow users to post matches for other hosts, for example.

• Will I be able to retake the quiz?

  • Yes, after a week of a cooldown, you may re-apply for verification.

• Will I be automatically verified if I've already hosted XX games?

  • No, everyone will have to go through the verification process (including the advisors).

• What will a verified host get on the calendar?

  • After talking to /u/ghowden, verified hosts will get a star/golden apple next to their game on the calendar list. As far as Brian's & Slokh's calendar goes, nothing is confirmed yet but we're working on contacting their respective creators.
