I have tried going through official volunteer groups but not got anywhere, I don't have military experience so I can't join the foreign legion, I don't have any more than basic first aid skills, I can't rebuild bridges, railways or electrical systems, people that want to be extracted will already have done so and don't have huge amounts of money to donate.
So I am left with the question what can I do to help the people of Ukraine?
My thoughts are opening a free steet kitchen for hot food but I'm concerned it will clash with existing charities doing their and I would be taking up resources. My next best idea is walking round with a sign offering free hugs from UK to UKR and travel around trying to give a little comfort and remind citizens that they are not alone.
Without being on the ground though it's hard to know what you need, what would improve your life that I could do simply? How can I make a difference to citizens that shouldn't be in this situation? What would make you smile and restore faith in humans?
