Looking for info on what’s going on in my great-grandfather’s village

Like the title says, I’m curious to find out what’s going on in my great-grandfather’s village where he was born (i.e. whether there’s been any fighting there, if it’s occupied, etc.). How can I do this in a way which won’t threaten Ukrainian safety? Is there a way? I don’t want to publicly post its name for that reason in case some sick Russian is reading this and will lay siege to it simply for my asking.
