I've been renting for a while and is so disheartening as it seems the Landlord has all the power and I'm always afraid to even add something like a scratch to the wall and they will force me to re-paint the entire place. Plus I can't decorate properly, make holes or get a pet.

I've been saving for a while to get my own place but can't afford a house [Freehold], I'm fine with a flat but Leaseholds irk me quite a lot. [Not even worth considering shared ownership since it just looks like a scam]

I've read about Leasehold reform and I know they abolished ground rent for new Leaseholds. But the prospect of my building being bought by another company and the service charge being tripled or worse is very frightening.

Any clue how long it will take them to implement the full Leasehold reform through Parliament??
