Do Firms fairly evaluate mitigating circumstances?
Post Body

Hi guys,

Currently a 2nd year student in LLB looking at potential training contracts etc. My plan will be either be successful in applying for a training contract or get into the legal sector another way for experience, for example such as a paralegal.

My first year module grades besides a few were basically bang average. All passes but nothing special. This was primarily down to the fact my daughter was born that year and my partners pregnancy was complicated and difficult to say the least. This was combined with having to keep on top of paid employment.

I've only completed my first semester of year 2 but already my grades are much higher and reflect my ability a lot clearer. I understand year 1 modules don't reflect my degree classification but as I'm aware they are asked for in applications.

As such, I guess my question is whether other people may have had similar situations or can even offer advice from their perspective of the situation. I'm an older student (25) having worked the past 8 years in a different industry so I'm hoping that provides an edge.

Cheers!
