My partner and I are looking to diversify our income to beyond just our salaries as her father and my uncle have (the latter has since moved full time to property renovations and management). We will of course ask them for advice but wanted to ask the wider community as well. How did you get started? Did you get somewhere “cheap” and renovate and rent out or start safer with a ready to go place to rent? Do you do it as a person or via a company you set up? Any advice, tips tricks or guidance would be well appreciated.

We are likely going to wait to build up some more cash first, but her father who is from and lives abroad has hinted at helping us with some initial funding, but not sure how that’d work from a gift or a business partnership perspective legally given he’s not from here.
