Hey everyone. I can't feel the gravity of it yet but I'm literally enrolled and coming over in August, if things stop being as chaotic. I'm an international grad student and only lived abroad in Europe before, and no more than three months. So I've been looking to all sorts of housing options, both to find motivation and to at least start preparing because sooner or later I'll be there. People of UI, i have questions! Do you think it's realistic to plan around commuting to campus with a bicycle? I know i won't do that if there are even teeny tiny slopes.
How would you describe the mentality of local people? I'm not looking for my forever city obviously, but do you think living in town would be especially preferable over living in campus?
Is campus alive? By that i mean what's happening in the evenings and weekends?
Are there any slackliners in here? (I'll reach out from Facebook groups and whatnot but someone who is a redditor/slackliner/attendingmyuni is a friend I'd love to start chatting.)
Do you love your school? I literally adored every aspect of mine as an undergradute, it makes it so much easier. Would you say that about the UI?
Any other advice on what to expect from Iowa in general is also much appreciated :)
