My hypothesis is that all of this has been around since humankind or before. Christopher Columbus reported a UFO, this is nothing new to us. What if aliens and spirits are one and the same. Like the spirits have wisdom and made crude biological entities so they are like avatars they manipulate and abductions gather the materials needed to build more. If you had existed since the world started you would be a lot smarter than a human and definetly enough time to make a avatar you could do things with. There are so many reports of them going into the ground or oceans, just going back home.
