Is it even worth paying for the commuter meal plan/ only flex?

I have the 30 block and 150 flex mealplan right now and after looking at the places that accept flex, I feel like I could have saved more money by just not getting a mealplan and eating at cheaper restaurants that don't accept flex. Also, I hate that I can't use flex to order online. For fall I was thinking of getting just 750 flex for the tax-free currency but I don't know if that's even worth it. Let me know what you think.
