Hi all,
Current UW Freshman here. Applied as undecided last year, currently in the college of arts and sciences as a pre-social sciences major. Took CSE 142 in autumn and loved it, so I took 143 this past quarter and had a similar experience. I'm currently really thinking I want to pursue CS as a major. However, I understand getting into CS through non-DA pathways is incredibly difficult. I've heard chances are higher for interest-changers, but I haven't seen any actual numbers attached to this fact. I didn't know if anyone here could shed some light or offer advice as to my outlook here. Is SAT score used for non-DA applications? That would really help me, as I got a fairly high score (1540). Otherwise, I don't have too many grades so far but I got a 4.0 in CS142 (3.98 overall gpa) and predict I'll get above 3.5 in Math 124 and CS143 this quarter. Should I look at transferring in order to pursue CS? Thanks all!
