There have been a lot of coronavirus related posts on the front page lately due to its rapid spread to the US. While some discussion has been informative and entertaining, there have been many posts that pose a danger to public health. This sub will not tolerate any posts that actively contradict information given by the Center for Disease Control, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, or the UCLA Administration in regards to the outbreak. From this point onwards, posts whose objectives are deemed to be fear-mongering or rooted in misinformation will be removed. This includes but is not limited to calling for premature cancellation of classes, asking members of the UCLA administration to resign, speculating the effects of the outbreak on UCLA, and attacking students for decisions they have made regarding the outbreak.

The UCLA Administration has been working closely with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to ensure that they are prepared to handle the coronavirus once it appears on campus. As per the most recent email by UCLA, the LACDPH has made no recommendations to suspend campus operations. UCLA has already made students aware that they are ready to deploy online learning tools and make accommodations for final exams once it is deemed necessary to shut down the campus.

We understand that some of you may have concerns, but we cannot allow posts on this sub to incite hysteria and impede the work of public health officials. At this time, they have made no indication that you should change your daily routine, other than to avoid touching your face and to wash your hands with warm, soapy water more frequently.
