I was sent to pick up at a lower price point hotel, still a chain. It this location has a reputation as being what my father called, “a hot pillow joint”. The female rider got it and off we went. As I pulled out I noticed a black Ford Explorer turn out behind me and I dropped her at a nicer hotel about 3 miles away. As I pulled out after dropping her off the Explorer (obviously a LEO) flipped on his lights and pulled me over. He asked for my license and then asked who the woman was. My answer was that I didn’t know her. I said I’m just Ubering. He asked why I was giving a “known prostiitute” a ride. I gave home a flippant answer that she has the app and requested a ride. He told me that I was subject to arrest for transportation of a sex worker. Now there is no such law but other laws might apply if, and only if, I knew she was a sex worker, and I knowingly transported her to perform as a sex worker. He threatened to call Uber, He threatened to call my wife, He threatened to arrest me, He told me my 3 character vanity plate was improper, he insisted it was 4 character minimum. So after wasting 45 minutes of my time he released me.

So how would he know I was an Uber driver? Let’s see, I have the silly little sign displayed and the Uber app was running where he could see. Before he released me he as me if I felt cool being her pimp. Our police have a bad enough reputation as the chief of police was just arrest for a multitude of charges.
