Short Story, I put my brand new pc into a uber this afternoon, Said hey to the driver and that i was jumping around the other side to get in and as soon as the door was closed he drove off.
Long: Hey all, As above. I moved over to the UK from AUS about 2 years ago and left my old gaming rig there as it didnt make sense/cost too much to bring it over. Since moving over iv worked my arse off and although im not too smart/qualified managed to get sponsored from my work to stay.
Over the last 6 months or so iv scraped up my savings and upon getting a little money for chrissy/my bday last month finally bit the bullet and bought all the diff bits to make a semi decent gaming pc, Had it wired by an IT company and upon going to pick it up today found good old SE london to be raining. Chucked a garbage bag over it to keep the water out and ordered an uber.
Uber comes, Pop it in the back seat after checkin it was the right car/licence and said hey mate to the driver. Low and behold after I tell him im just gonna jump on the other side and close the door the bloke starts driving away. i thought he made a mistake so tried calling him on the app, rejected 3 times whilst chasing him down the street, Guy goes the wrong way down a one way street and drives off.
Im obviously frantic at this point, Called the police through the uber app and explained. 10 mins later and suprise suprise no available units they take my details etc and log it, i then call uber and they are completely useless (escalating and will ''try'' and contact the driver within 24-48 hrs).
Im lost, Like that was literally all my savings just down the drain. Uber dont seem to Give 2 F**ks and the police are likely not gonna spend time on this. What can i do? There was cctvs in the spot so going to try and speak to the owners of the building to get that, I have the guys first name, uber profile and licence plate. Any advice would be appreciated but yeh. Devastated. Who does that to people honestly, And in a registered uber vehicle no less
