Vehicle dmg against players changed?

So there was a little dude on my screen that had the misfortune of running in the same direction I was rolling in my jeep. Full speed with boost and a direct hit. Nothing. Turned around and direct hit again but slower. No kill/knock. At this point Im starting to get annoyed. It took 2 more hits via side swipe to get him down.

Later in the match I ran full speed for another direct hit on an unfortunate soul and got a 1 hit kill.

What has happened to vehicle damage in the latest patch? You guys see anything similar?
