Post Body

When you begin something new it usually begins with a flourish. Passion. Excitement. Adventure. Certainly it's true for a new partner... but also a new habit, interest, even possibly a blog. But what determines if it lasts or not?

To write is it external reinforcement like readers, comments, views or interest? Is it internal motivation like desire, amusement, pleasure or catharsis? I don't know. I guess the deeper question is do I write and post for others, or for myself? And can you really completely delineate between the two? I mean if a blog is written when no one is around does it make a point... or something like that? Is the fact that I even ask the question imply that I do care that others read it? And the fact that I broke the fourth wall certainly implies that I don't care (or I don't follow the rules, which probably will be the topic of another ramble). Ultimately the question is what do I want (see episode 2)? And do I need to know? Apparently not yet.
