I had my lap done at the women’s hospital in Liverpool (UK) by Gemma Sheridan (gynaecologist). Had symptoms consistent with endo for a year now and they’ve been getting worse and worse to the point where I’m in pain every single day and using a tens machine and hot water bottles to get anything done. A few days ago I called an ambulance for myself because I was home alone and started my period and the pain was so excruciating I thought I was gonna die. They discharged me from the hospital and said to come back for my surgery on Friday.
The whole process of surgery felt rushed. She said she wouldn’t be looking in my bowel or other areas as that’s “not her department” and I would need to have gastro surgery to look for endo there in the bowel. When I woke up all I wanted was to know what they found. The anaesthetist said something about a cyst being removed and then Gemma came and said “you just have painful periods” and left. Next thing I remember is being on the ward with the nurse who said Gemma “couldn’t find any gynaecological issues”. All my results came back normal, no endo. The nurse didn’t understand why I was so upset and said it was a good thing that nothing was wrong with me but CLEARLY THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME BUT NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHAT IT IS.
Then they said she will call me in 3 months to see how I’m getting on…..so am I just going to be in pain for 3 months then?? I’m so hopeless how am I supposed to carry on and keep asking for help when no one knows how to help me. I’m in bed with horrible gas pains and 2 painful incisions and it feels like it’s all been for nothing.
Has anyone else had an experience at this hospital/with this consultant? I don’t know what to do. Pls help
