This post showcases all the places that u/aang333's world traveling card has visited during its stay in Switzerland! 😊
Path within Switzerland (it kind of looks like a cat!)
First Stop: Lausanne (1)
Lausanne is a big city in the French part of Switzerland and also known as "Capital of the Olympics", since that's where the headquarters of International Olympic Committee is located.
There, we climbed many (many, many) stairs to reach the very top of a lovely gothic cathedral (that silly me forgot to take a picture of...) in Lausanne to get this view on the city. It was a little bit foggy that day, but you can still make out the lake as well as the mountains in the back! ⛰️

My boyfriend then had an amazing idea and made me take the following picture while we were on the cathedral. He was the one holding the card 🤣 And again, if you look carefully, you can kind of make out the mountains in the back.

Next Stop: Biel/Bienne (2)
Biel, or Bienne in French, is the only officially bilingual city in Switzerland. 57% of the inhabitants speak German, 43% of them speak French and they're all mingled together as neighbours and coworkers! Being an official bilingual city means that all street signs and public announcements have to be in both languages.

Many cities in Switzerland still have "old towns" with beautiful old architecture that are being preserved by the government, and Biel is no exception:
Next Stop: Bern (3)
One of te most popular tourist attractions of Switzerland's capital city is the Clock Tower (or "Zytgloggge", which is Swiss German). Every full hour, the tower puts on a little show where small figurines start dancing around the clock, with music!
The symbol of both, the canton as well as the city of Bern is a bear. Another well loved place is the "Bärengraben", which houses several of our furry friends.

Next Stop: Luzern (4)
Apparently, Luzern is known for its preserved medieval architecture (I got that from Google because I know nearly nothing about this city 😅). There's a wooden footbridge called the "Kapellbrücke" (Chapel Bridge) that attracts many tourists from around the world because it's the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe (and you can still walk on it!!).
Here's a bonus picture that my boyfriend took of me taking a picture of the Kapellbrücke 🤣

Next Stop: Zürich (5)
Zurich is the biggest city (population wise) in Switzerland and many actually mistakenly think that this Swiss metropolitan is our capital, but our capital city is actually Bern (that the card visited prior to Zurich)!
During my day trip to Zurich with the card and my boyfriend we found a nice little spot with great view on the city! On the left is the "Fraumünster", which is a church built from the remains of a former abbey for aristrcratic women ("Frau" = "woman" in German). And on the right you can see the "Grossmünster" with its two towers, which is one of the four big churches in Zurich.

We also went to a museum for illusions and had a blast! Unfortunately there weren't many photo-spots suitable for a greeting card, but we did manage to take this funky picture:

Last Stop: Ticino (6)
My parents went on a trip to the Italian part of Switzerland and I made them take the card with them! Unfortunately the weather was very bad it it wouldn't stop raining, so they spent most of their time inside the hotel doing (well deserved) wellness stuff or shopping in indoor malls.
But my mom did manage to take a picture of the Gotthard Pass on their way back home! It's quite a famous tunnel that connects the northern and southern part of Switzerland.

~ The End ~
This was a lot of fun and I'm so happy to have been able to take the World Traveling Card across Switzerland. Thank you to u/sunshineandmelonss for sending this card my way and to u/aang333 for starting this amazing project! I'll be following the rest of its journey and I'm very excited to see where it'll go next 😊🌍
PS: I know Switzerland is known for its mountains, but I wanted to show people a different side of our country. And also, I really did not have time to travel to the mountains x) They're not all too far away but I already had other plans on most weekends. But here's some photos of mountains that I took last year 😅
