back to default intro kelly.
i'm cruising through old youtube music channels i used to find EDM/techno(some people fucking hate edm in terminology and see it really as a back in my day we don't do that..some people say it's just the new evolution of describing electronic based music in general) jams on.
THOSE WHO KNOW FUCKING KNOW ABOUT MAJESTIC CASUAL! nowdays in 2024 they have 4.2 million subs so i'm assuming enough people know about them now, especially in the musical sphere.
this song came on and i KNEW i had to add it to one or more of my playlists that aren't ready to be released yet. i was trying to figure out which one it goes on and that it needed to go on two. one for the synergy between the two sides of the dynamic coin, and one for the nurturing masculine. though i honestly feel the vocals could be confused as a woman with a slightly deeper voice or is it a guy with a higher pitched voice? idek i've always heard of it as a guy with a higher register toned voice.
the unpopular perspective is while music is really subjective and personal, there tends to be go to bands and go to vibes people listen to while they are sceneing or that describe this style of relationship to themselves or others or gets a 'vibe' going.
i know a lot of people love various depeche mode songs. i've had a moment where i was into them more than i am now...never was a huge super fan. i'm not into the sad boy trope.
a lot of people love the personal jesus song.
people also love trent nine inch nails. now he's someone i've literally never been able to get into. one night clubbing a dj played ONE song i actually enjoyed but it didn't motivate me to write it down and actually add it to my library. he's also just not my style.
so people are usually into a more edgy vibe....which i think some of the songs on the playlists i've released have an edge to them..and i do use songs with guitars and rock in them..but i'm coming at it differently.
this song hold me by olmos is way more my speed. even the thumbnail art the youtube picked for it is way more my speed though i typically prefer representation of someone who looks more with my ethnic qualities. but that was lort...........8 years ago and social media was not as black and brown skinned friendly as it is now visually, ESPECIALLY electronic music based spaces and scenes so that checks on that end.
this song is so many things. it's quirky, it's playful, it's soft, it's driving, it's explorational in the lyrics(who's there? and then says, me! a whole peek a boo in a song. just like the bitches love x meme littles/babies love peek a boo), it's catchy, it's dancy, it has that disruption moment in the song that i love(disruptions in the right way for shifts the energy and pulls me/the listener deeper into the spell the song is casting and the energy and headspace it's putting you in), the lyrics of follow me is directional and in charge y guidey, it's calming, it's dancey, it's cute, it's meditative in the repetition of a few words and beats over and over, and it's also very romantic and depending on one's taste of sexy sexy too.
there's a popular saying in the south of you may go the hell and i may go to texas and i'd tweak that to going to nin or depeche mode or the more i guess still 'adult' perspectives when it comes to this stuff and
instead i'm going to
hop. skip. and jump into hollllllllldddddddd meeee. ME! hold, who's there?
