Part of my job is setting up and facilitating some of the most boring meetings you can think of...including "this meeting could have been an email" and "let's have a meeting about a meeting" type meetings, and today was no different. I had meetings practically all day, but my 9:15 was different...
A certain type of meeting I run includes parents. Normally we get moms in, sometimes dads are drug in by their wives and sit there, extremely bored. But I walked into the office to bring a parent into my 9:15, and caught a glimpse outside the office doors. Baseball hat, long sleeve hi-vis shirt, jeans and boots. Dark hair, beard. I may or may not have whispered, "please be here for my meeting!" Caught a glimpse of his name tag and sure enough, he was.
I walked in and introduced myself, saying it was great to finally meet in person after exchanging so many emails. He seemed nervous, but as we walked to our meeting room, he seemed to loosen up as I asked him questions about his work. As we walk into the meeting room, I had a decision to make: do I have this smoking hot dad sit across from me so I can stare at him the whole time, or do I sit him right next to me? I went with the first option :)
As I started the meeting and everyone introduced themselves, I could see all the women sitting up a little straighter and smiling a little bigger, clear signs I was not the only one enjoying 9:15am Dad. Throughout the meeting, he was engaged, attentive and sharing alot about his ex who was a deadbeat mom. I stole a glimpse at his left hand...he had a wedding ring on, so clearly, he moved on from the crazy ex. And you know how I feel about married men 😘
I wrap up the meeting by moving next to him to get some signatures, and remembered that I have to set up an additional meeting with him in a few months after getting a few things done. So, I'll get to see 9:15am Dad again in January. What should I do next time? 😍
