I might get punched in the face by barhopping richkids for this, but Manila is a better place than BGC or Makati. There's so much more culture, more history, and unique experiences to soak yourself in. Each unassuming alley is a silent witness to centuries of stories if you only know where to look (or read). Sure it's chaotic, but the grit and grime are all part of its characteristic charm. Guess I'm a little biased being a history buff, but heritage can beat overpriced aesthetic cafes and gigantic LED screens any day.
Places like BGC to me feels like a pretentious bubble; lived in by unhappy rich (or trying to be) people just there for business or for some fake fun. There's just no life in sterile environments.
