Hey there, I'm Emilie! I am a mother of two (two year old newborn), happily married (most days), and a practicing psychologist. I have spent a lot of time helping people grow, learn, and overcome various things, and I have a bit of a reputation for my unconventional methodology and personal approach to psychology, philosophy, therapy, and mental wellness and growth.
I always love to find mental and emotional connections with people that are based on mutual intellectual stimulation. Gender, age, and location are usually irrelevant, but the mental stimulation is paramount.
Here are a few things about me:
- At the time of this post, I am 37.
- I am a cartographer/designer by hobby.
- I vehemently believe that a career does not define who a person is.
- I watch NFL football, and know the rules and penalties better than most coaches/reffs.
- I am exceedingly proficient at data analysis and finding trends
- I am a mother to a 2 year old boy, and a newborn baby girl.
- I can, at times, be pedantic. I am very careful about my word choice.
- People that know me have called me a "walking encyclopedia" for most of my life, much to my dismay.
- I have an eclectically weird set of social anxieties. It makes it hard for me to get to know people at first, and I have a terrible track record at keeping a conversation going.
- I have dabbled in character role play (not DND or anything 'game'/dice based... just acting out things, etc). I like to think I'm pretty good at getting into character.
- I have a tendency to wear my heart on my sleeve, and I consider myself to be a political/social moderate.
- Taoism is the closest thing to a religion that subscribe to, and I wouldn't really call it a subscription.
- I have a tendency to default to being pretty reserved, but once I'm comfortable I can be much more crass and appreciate cursed humor.
- I occasionally read comics and/or manga on my tablet, but I DISLIKE from Marvel, Action, and the other 'super hero' ones.
- I have recently gotten into Manifold Markets. I don't really know much about them, but they're fun to tinker with. (I have fallen off of this a bit, but they still interest me).
- I can fix just about anything, once I understand how it works. I've fixed cars and furnaces, as well as computers, phones, and more.
- I have an eclectic taste in music, but I've been on a Jazz and Folk kick for quite a while. Big band and hard bop classics have been prevalent also.
- Cooking comes naturally to me. Baking is more than I have patience for, most of the time.
- I have been told that I can be a "mixed bag"... but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
- I have done graphic design, drafting, art, and aesthetics work in varying degrees.
- I have moderated and run many different groups and communities over my years.
- I am passionate about growing plants, and I have a DIY hydroponics setup that I have used in the past for growing various veggies and herbs.
- I enjoy things that dance on the line between the sensible and ostensible.
- My availability can be extremely limited, due to the nature of my day-to-day life.
- If you come at me with talk about AI and/or how it's "so freaking cool", I will simply roll my eyes.
- I have spent the better part of my life in passive search for existential truth, and have a particular fascination with dichotomy.
- I'm open to any/all questions.
