These are all the monster I've written so far using images as writing prompts. Some of these may need the original image as a reference so I've linked the original posts. Please use the hyperlink to find the original comments and posts. The images are property of their respectful creators and I take no claim in owning any of them. Sometimes the original the image may come from another source such as ArtStation, Deviantart, Tumblr, Instragram, etc. so please make sure to support the original creators on their respective platforms too! I also love hearing feedback, so give me some if you have any please! One last thing: enjoy!

EDIT (11/15/2020): I’d like to point out that not everything is faithful to the original image (such as It Lives on the Streets). If it doesn’t entirely match up to the original image, please look over it as it is either me not noticing a detail or details or taking creative freedom. EDIT (11/22/2020): I know this a little unnecessary but not every I write is part of this monster series.

1. They Stalk The Night

They stalk the night. Running around aimlessly in the dark. Their bodies which no humanoid should survive in stroll around quietly. They look upon us through our windows, breathing intensely. The only existence of their presence that they may leave behind is the cold breath on the glass and goopy drool left on the windowsill.

2. The Window is Where it Sits

The window is where it sits. Never moving an inch until the owners come home. Just sitting. It waits from them to come back to their abode. Quietly resting there. When the residents return it scurries off any hides and in a place where it won’t be found. Things go missing during the time it stays there. A set of keys vanished once a █████ ████ had returned to his home, a necklace had been stolen from the residence of one █████ █████, and most terrifyingly a cutting knife left out by ██ ███ after dinner. It is thought that like a crow it is attracted to shiny things. It is unknown if the entity bears any malice or simply hides peacefully, though one victim reported a heavy growl inconsistently coming from under his bed through the course of a few nights.

3. It Lives Under the Floorboards

It lives under the floorboards, gazing from underneath with its eyes. A shadow may quickly appear in the little light that may come from somewhere within the house. Several items left on the floor have gone missing from time to time. The victims of this entity report a certain feeling of unease and something at the edge of their beds. One man thought he saw glowing eyes like those of a cat’s. Eventually it’ll crawl closer and closer, possibly waiting to devour a victim. It is still unknown if it merely lurking or a predator waiting for its next meal.

4. It Walks Among Us

It walks among us. In the form of a woman in her late twenties it roams our streets. It looks like us. It talks like us. It makes it ways in the homes. When it leaves, telling us that it has to go to work, it is unknown where it goes. It has been sighted outside of dark alley ways or above sewer drains. There is almost no way to distinguish it from real humans, except for when it reveals its true nature. A creature that is no longer human. It unhinges half of its upper jaw, revealing a large mouth filled with piercing fangs. It almost never does this. Its motives, if any, are still unknown to us. Lovers of the entity have reported that they will experience pains like they have never felt before once they woke up in the morning.

5. It Comes to the Door at Night

It comes to the door at night. Waiting, it stands there holding a withering yellow flower that is yet to be identified. From the back, it appears to be human. From the front, its true nature is revealed. It is a hideous being with empty eye sockets and pale, torn, floppy skin. It’s mouth is wide and it’s teeth are crooked but look very human in appearance despite their unusual size. It slowly drools, as if it is unaware of doing it or it is hungry. When it appears, it will ring the doorbell. Before the door is answered, it will ask with a struggle in its voice if a specific woman is there. It has never asked for the same woman twice, with the name varying from house to house. Its motives are unknown. Every morning, at each house it visited a note is found somewhere on the property. Each note is written very sloppily and barely legible, but it says one thing: “I miss you.”

6. It Calls on the Phone/Mr. Teeth

It calls on the phone. Its voice is differs from call to call, varying from a young child, a young woman, to an old man. It seems to prefer a voice that would belong to an old man, although this is mere speculation. A distinct clacking of teeth can be heard every other sentence during certain calls. It is very friendly and polite when it speaks. The answers it gives are usually minimalistic and it is rare that a full conversation can be held with it. One victim who managed to hold a conversation asked who the caller was, only have a reply which was “My name is not important, but you may call me Mr. Teeth.” The call then abruptly ended. The victim was reported to be unable to speak the next morning, as if their voice suddenly disappeared.

7. It Roamed Outside

It roamed outside. Covered in hair, it treaded slowly, as if it were gently gliding. The entity was been reported as making a wailing a sound, as if it were mourning. It had been observed digging in the night for several hours. The holes it made are usually around 60.96 centimeters (2 feet) in depth. After being observed over the course of a few months, it finally stopped digging, with its arms in a position like a mother use to hold their child. The entity has not been sighted since then.

8. It Came with the Circus

It came with the circus. Standing at least 2.13 meters (7 feet) in height, it bides its time, waiting. It is unknown if the height described here is its actually height or part of a clown costume it appears to be using. It bears three masks resembling those that would belong to a clown. It is unknown if one these is a head or if all three of them are. Underneath its robes are a red material that has yet to be identified.

The circus it came from (which shall remain unnamed) was a reputable one, beloved by adults and children. On one day, after the circus had done it's annual visit to to the town of Ironside, New York, children began to report that they saw a strange figuring walking through the alley ways. Police reports have been filed, but they have yet to track the entity down. One investigation done by the Ironside Police said that a female officer reported a feeling of unease, and thought she had heard a lost child calling. The last thing heard coming from her radio was a scream. She has not been found since.

9. It Lies Beneath the Water

It lies beneath the water. It looks up for days upon days, waiting for the next vessel. Victims who have encountered this entity have described it as a humanoid with snake-like hair and its eyes are blank watery abysses, save for a small white light. It is impossible to determine its size due to its lower half has never being completely seen. It is unknown if the entity is floating or standing.

Some victims (sailors) have described it emitting a low hum that makes the water ripple. They have reported feeling tired after hearing this noise, and a few of their fellow crew mates have fallen asleep. They look pale, as if blood had been drained from their bodies. The entity has not moved from its spot as if it is waiting for something to happen. Many ships that go near there have yet to be seen again.

10. It Lives on the Ceiling

It lives on the ceiling. Watching, it stays silent for hours upon hours. Humanoid in appearance, it has pale, smooth skin. Its limbs are long and slender and its face is devoid of emotion save for what looks like a sinister smile. It is approximately 2 meters (nearly 7 feet) in height. It is unknown how an entity of its size can enter and live in residences undetected. It seems to head to the nearest bedroom as soon as it enters the facility. It seems to come and leave on its own, though this is mere speculation.

One victim reported feeling the sensation of a hand moving across his blanket. Tired, he thought it was his wife. When the victim woke up, he saw nothing except for a watery like substance that has yet to be identified. It is possible the victim may have nearly died if he did not wake up, although he had been quoted as “the hand I felt had no malice to it. I was scared at first, but then the hand felt warm and loving, just like how my mother used to wake me.”

11. It Was Found on a Fridge

It was found on a fridge. The anomaly appears to be a drawing by a child, although this is difficult how a child had such skill to draw the entity. Its has distinct lack of color. It’s hair is long and it has what appears to be a top hat on its head. It has a permanent smile and constantly moves like it laughing. Its are devoid of life and its nose is square. No limbs are visible on the torso of its body. It is unable to leave its location as its soul seems to be tied down to the fridge.

Victims have reported strange noises and smells coming from the fridge it is located on. Some of them have felt a pair of eyes glaring at them. The fridge it is has been passed on for at least five years, although this is mere speculation. Various foodstuffs have gone missing after being placed and chewing noises have reported to have been heard afterwards. Meat is usually the first disappear.

The anomaly is unusual in its case due to the fact it can be communicated with unlike most other entities. Those who wish to ask it questions can simply write questions on the paper using any tool that can produce legible rewriting. It replies using body language. By shaking its body once, it indicates the letter a, shaking twice indicates the letter b, shaking three times indicates the letter c, and so forth. Here are some of the questions that have been asked to the anomaly.

  • ⁠“Where do you come from?” “I awoke.”
  • ⁠“What are you?” “I am like the others.”
  • “Who are the others?” “You know them.”
  • ⁠“Are you alive?” “Yes.”
  • “Can you leave the fridge?” “No. It is inescapable.”
  • Unprompted, it said one thing at the end of the interview, “I do not want to be old.”

12. It Lives in the Sewers

It lives in the sewers. Treading through the murky sewage it moves ever so slowly. Humanoid in appearance, it is a tall and furry giant. It has severe wounds across its filthy body, it does not mind them in the slightest. Mice squeal in terror at the sight of this behemoth and quickly scurry away. It is unknown how an anomaly of its size could manage to fit underground, though it has been theorized that it went underground at young age when it was much smaller. Again however, this is speculation and there is definitive way to prove this as now.

Victims (sanitation worker) have reported a low, booming noise that shakes the broken pipes they’ve been working on. One victim went to investigate the noise and found several corpses what used to be rodents. He shined his flashlight around the area and wasn’t able to see anything until he accidentally looked up. There two beady eyes looked back at him in the abysmal darkness and he heard a roar that pierced his eardrums. Terrified, he ran away and soon quit his job. His spouse has reported him murmuring in his sleep three words, “Don’t abandon me.”

13. It Was Found in the Dumpsters

It was found in the dumpsters. It has no form, but it is made up from the trash and sludge found in waste disposal bins. It sometimes gives the illusion of a face when it forms, but it is still being debated as to whether it can actually see or feel vibrations in the air.

The entity is very protective of its area and despite being made of waste, will become very violent if anymore brought to it. Victims who have seen it have reported seeing occasional faces appearing across its formless body once it takes shape. It is unknown if these are real humans or merely imitations.

14. It Lives in the Attic

It lives in the attic. Secluded, it waits. No one goes in the attic. Its almost never been seen, except for the shadow of its body and glowing yellow eyes. Slumped over with a neck that shouldn’t support its head, it has two long slender appendages coming from its torso. Other than this, the rest of its body is unknown.

The anomaly tends to take items that have not been used in a very long time. Victims have reported thumping and crashing coming from their attics. Upon entering the chamber, victims often find nothing there other than some broken antiques. One victim found an old book torn up and almost words were no longer left other than one: “Greed.”

15. It Looms Over The Bed

It looms over the bed. Unlike most entities which tend to conceal themselves, this one makes it appear before victims. Humanoid in appearance, it is about 2.16 meters (around seven and half feet) in height. Some have suggested it is the same as the thing that lives in the attic due to the fact that barely any parts of it are distinguishable, though this is simply not true at all. Four visible limbs (two arms and two legs) are seen with hands and feet attached to them. Its face is more distinguishable than the thing that lives in the attic and its face can be seen with two sets of teeth and barely visible white as opposed to no distinguishable features and pupil-less, glowing yellow eyes.

In the fetal position, it sits beside the victim. Victims have found themselves unable to move during the entity's presence and have misattributed it to some form of sleep paralysis. The entity does not seem to have any ill-will or harm towards the victims, though some may say otherwise. It stares at the victims with intent. Once daylight appears it simply slides back into the shadow from where it once came.

16. In the Moonlight It Slowly Treads

In the moonlight it slowly treads. With a humanoid appearance, its face has wide, gaping jaw and empty sunken and hollow eyes. Four arachnid-like legs adorn its body and two hands drape down from its underbelly. A reptilian spine can be seen perturbing from its back and various wounds cover its body.

It was originally thought to be the thing that roamed outside, but upon closer investigation it was found to be a completely different entity. Victims (local hunters) have reported several venison slaughtered with their heads or limbs being torn of. Tracks have been spotted near the area, although they were two thing circle to be called a foot or a hoof. The victims originally assumed these were hoof prints left behind by deer fleeing from whatever it was that preyed upon them. Later in the night, one of the victims reported feeling and hearing what felt like heavy breathing upon his neck. When he returned home, he went to take a bath but as soon as he took his shirt off, he noticed a large scar on his back.

17. It Was Forgotten and Left Behind

It was forgotten and left behind. Slowly crumbling it moves ever so slightly. It is a clown-like doll without an owner, and the windows that are its eyes hold a sad and sorrowful with them. Its color has been permanently bleached out and filth covers its porcelain skin. Its movements are almost mechanical, though no remnants of any sort of machinery are present.

Its jaw twitches and seem to be as if they are trying to utter words that it cannot say. Sounds of breathing and groaning can be heart, but this should be impossible since no organs are known to be within its body. Autopsy has been attempted, but all attempts to penetrate the skin have failed.

Victims tend to flee at the sight of it moving, but one victim reported that they could’ve sworn the doll uttered four distinguishable words: “Take me with you.”

18. It Lives on the Streets

It lives on the streets. Its “front” is nothing but a mimic which appears to be a wounded person and the “back” is its true form. Arachnid in appearance, it has eight legs and gaping mouth underneath like a starfish or an octopus. Two smaller armed are used to presumably grab food.

Victims (drivers) have reported unease seeing this “person”. They knew its movements were bizarre and unnatural. The “person” was not drunk and looked to have been dead for a very long time. One victim didn’t have enough time to stop and accidentally drove under it, giving us the description above. The victim in the passenger seat sat there with their pupil slowly drifting off, and when taken a hospital was found to have spider venom in bloodstream.

19. It was Seen Under the Lamp

It was seen under the lamp. It was originally thought to be the same as the thing that lives in the attic, but upon further investigation, it is not. Documentation has improved since its initial discovery in July 2010. The descriptions of both entities do not match up.

When it comes out of the shadows, it has a long neck, snake-like neck with two legs(?) supporting its rotund torso. A smiling set of teeth and two beaming, red eyes can be seen on its face. It tends to follow victims infinitely in a park during the nighttime. The crunching and dragging of fallen leaves can be heard during the fall and the rustling of bushes during the summer.

Victims (local residents) have reported a sensation of being followed. They tend to be walking in the local park for various reasons. In the dark they heard footsteps and breathing. When they stopped under a lamp, the footsteps suddenly vanished. If the victims happened to spot the entity, they would usually flee to their residences in terror and wake up the next day blind.

20. They Come From the Ground

They come from the ground. Barren in appearance except for their cylindrical bodies, they tunnel deep into the earth. They have been termed worms although no indication of them being such has been proven. They are difficult to research due to them only coming out of the ground at night. Researchers have been able to capture photographic images of them by briefly flashing a bright light when they first appear out of the ground and then snapping the photo. Ever since doing this though, the “worms” have migrated to different locations from than their initial sighting.

Victims (farmers) have reported that several of their livestock and vegetation have been rapidly disappearing. They’ve falsely misattributed these to thieves lurking in the night and several investigations by officers of the law have been futile. One victim sat all night long with a rifle in his hand, but the entities still managed to steal much of his plantation’s goods. He said he heard several rustling and digging noises, but never saw anything. In the morning when he entered his residency again, he noticed the door open with a trail of liquid oozing away from the house.

21. It Lives on the Staircase that Leads to Nowhere

  • Note: I wrote this monster not using any images. I listened to music by myuu while writing this and some of it inspired the writing. I feel like this is basically prompted by his song called Keep Going. I had a different idea in mind for the monster's design but then the image used in the video just stuck itself in the writing.

It lives on the staircase that leads to nowhere. Humanoid in the appearance, it has tanned skin and glaring eyes that look like a cat. With a somber yet hideous face, it beckons with its shriveled hand for the victim to follow. Most victims have a feeling where they are unable to refuse the entity's call. Down the stairs the victims descend into an abyss. After around an estimated fifteen steps, the victims will realize what they are doing. If ascending the stairs is attempted, they can no longer see the doorframe the entered through. The only way to continue their journey is forward, following the entity. After the fifteen steps are achieved, the door will close to the outside world until an unknown event inside the world of stairs occurs.

A researcher was sent down through the portal the doorframe provided and acknowledged the risks associated with it. He was provided with essential supplies to last two weeks (including a radio). A distinguishable echo could be heard from the slightest of sounds. Although it was not picked up during the transmission, the researcher reported hearing what sounded like wind eternal blowing. The further he went down, the more unstable the connection was. The passage of time seemed to be loosing upon him. After all, in a void there is no such things such as days or nights.

The researcher's transmissions kept coming to headquarters at random intervals, ranging from a few seconds to a few days between each call. He would usually report the same thing: a staircase that leads to almost no where while following a humanoid that he wouldn't ever get near. Rarely, he would loose an item within his possession, but that almost never happened.

Standard protocols were repetitively broken by the researcher, such as conveying his feeling of loneliness and frustration of no physical human contact. He would describe the stairs twisting and turning ways that wield physically impossible to cross, such as going upside-down or intersecting.

Three days after the initial descent, he asked headquarters how long had passed. He was told the truth and began screaming in frustration, declaring that it had felt like weeks already. His supplies were nearly untouched and he said he had felt almost need for food, drink, or sleep. He then started begging for another researcher to come follow him but was informed the portal he entered was already closed and could not be entered until reopened.

In the last transmission headquarters ever received, the researcher now sounded delirious, declaring he touched the entity. The researcher spewed a few insults at the staff at headquarters for not following him down into the darkness and then proceeded to break the radio he was given. The door opened not too long after this incident, with the entity waiting at the entrance.

22. It Wasn’t a Tree

It wasn’t a tree nor was there an animal caught in a thicket’s branches. Everything around this long deceased plant was flourishing with life yet this was the only dead bush in the area. Gurgling and crunching sounds could be heard from inside the dead bush and it didn’t sound like they could from an animal but rather sounded like something eating an animal.

No one dared to enter the chasm that would’ve been entered under this plant. If they did, they would have to enter alone since the hole is only big enough for one person. Even though an eternal darkness may blanket the tunnel, it looks so inviting yet terrifying at the same time. Did something dig this? And if so, are they still in there? And why haven’t the animals that ventured in there returned? The only way to find out is to go in there by yourself.

23. It Visits Dreams

It visits dreams. A victim may be having a perfectly normal dream until it interrupted by this entity. Originally thought it be some form of mass hysteria, it was soon found out that the phenomenon was occurring in unrelated parts of the world.

The entity will disrupt dreams and appear before them in the form of a cloaked person. The entity’s face is completely unseen during the time the person is dreaming. It will speak in a language not recognizable, although some words have been guessed as to meaning such as “sind” meaning either black or darkness and “uzu” meaning spiral. Victims have reported feeling unease when it’s speaking, as if it contained a thousand souls. It is difficult to keep track of to whom it will appear as it seems to come at random. One victim reported several instances coming to her, and felt as if it was trying to warn her of something.

24. It Came From the Sky

It came from the sky. Floating like a jellyfish it roams through the clouds. The entity has a fleshy outer layer with a sack at the top. Honeycomb bars cover the inside only shown through pillars of flesh and a donut-shaped hold at the top (this is speculated to be the protective casing of an essential organ) and four slimy appendages protrude its body and a fanged mouth (similar to the beak of an octopus) hangs from its underbelly.

The entity was first sighted by several children playing outside in a small city in Russia that shall remain unnamed. The entity slowly floated by. Parents dismissed this as childish imagination but the researchers assigned to this entity have thought otherwise. Perhaps it is best that they blindly dismiss these children’s claims since the missing people cases have been slowly rising there.

24 It Hides in the Corner

It hides in the corner. Standing around 2 meters in height (nearly 7 feet), the entity has a humanoid appearance. A black top hat and coat adorn its body and claw-like fingers can be found on its hands. Its eyes appear hollow and its mouth has a void inside of it.

It bears a unusual resemblance to the thing found on the fridge. When the other entity was asked about it, it refused to talk, only shaking its body to say the word “No” anytime it was asked a question about this entity.

A strange dust always accompanies it everywhere it goes, and researchers have yet to identify what exactly it is. Prolonged exposure and inhaling of the dust seems to cause extremely fatigue and even paralyzing fear if exposed long enough. One researcher who accidentally inhaled the dust went into a deep coma. She was taken to the infirmary and despite being in a coma, was reported to be murmuring in her sleep about things she regretted.

25. It Emerged from the Wall

It emerged from the wall. Again and again it comes back to haunt its victims night after night, terrorizing its victims without end. Coming through portals, it opens a previously non-existent door that it is triangular in its shape. A human face with a torso covered with exposed areas of muscles adorn its body. A clown-like mask on its can sometimes be seen if the entity leans out enough.

It is one of the rare entities that attempts to communicate with its victims and is capable of speaking simple English, though it often confuses words in a foreign and yet to be identified tongue when speaking, though it is theorized to be the same language as the one used by the thing that visits dreams due to the similarities of some of the words used by both entities.

When speaking, it will often inquire victims about various things (including things victims did that day, feelings they may have, and regrets about things that happened in their pasts). It will try to initiate full conversations and it is generally advised to give as little information as possible to the entity or to ignore it completely due to feelings of stress and anxiety often occurring after a long and detailed conversation ends.

26. It was Found in a Cellar

It was found in a cellar. It is photograph that ever so slightly changes with each glance. Originally, the image was pitch black until a light turned on. The photo currently contains a light dimly illuminating a room with what is assumed to a mummified human hanging on the room’s ceiling.

It is advised to not look at the original photograph due to it causing certain sensations of touch such as the feeling of pressure being applied to parts of body (most prominently felt on the upper torso and head) and anxieties of being hunted. The last victim to see the photograph was a researcher who reported a feeling of numbness in his legs and seeing what looked like a filmy later covering his eyes before becoming paralyzed.

27. It was Spotted Next to the Highway

It was spotted next to the highway. A single incident, but an unforgettable one for many drivers near the city of Ironside, New York. A wavy being shook the ground as it emerged from the woods in October of 2020. Its branches flowed like in the wind and its brief appearance was too quick to accurately calculate the height of this entity. The humanoid glided throw the forest gently. A traffic jam was caused due to onlookers observing the entity while driving. The entity has not appeared since after heading west, though rumors have said that the entity will come back in October 2021.

28. The Box Wasn’t Enough to Contain It

The box wasn’t enough to contain it. We thought we had it secured all these years... but we were wrong. The Wall Walker, or so the staff called it, glided across the facility’s hallway. The whole building went into a mandatory lockdown and we were all trapped inside of trapped inside with this thing.

Everyone was advised to go into a large room with walls that were no more than 3 meters from us. We were told to stay in the center of the room until help arrived while the anomaly roamed free. The two co-workers that managed to hide with me I huddled together back-to-back in a circle in the storage room, waiting for hours on end for this thing to be taken care of.

We passed the time this incident occurred for by talking to each other. We talked about our families and friends and how much they would miss us any of us died while researching. My one co-worker began sobbing uncontrollably as she talked about her mom. We all felt our sanity slowly slipping away as the hours began feeling like days to us.

We continued to hear noises from the Wall Walker as it roamed through the building. I would’ve thought that one scream would’ve been heard at least now that what seemed like three hours (I had no accurate measurement of time in that moment). Another hour had gone by and my other co-worker decided it was safe since we couldn’t hear the entity growling anymore.

Before I could protest, he vanished into hallway I dares to not tread into. The co-worker who remained me with decided it was safe to go out as no screams had been heard after ten more minutes. He must’ve escaped outside right? I pleaded with her but she left as if she was being called by an unknown force. I was left all alone.

Miserable, I laid my head on the ground, my eyes wide open. My ear had been pressed against the ground. I heard could hear my blood rushing my body and something approaching me.

I don’t what’s worse: not hearing someone screams or that knowing the floor might not be safe to sit on either.
