Two years ago, I was pushing toward 400 pounds. I was somewhere around 388 or 390. I began making small changes and got my weight down to 360.
Then in early 2022, I finally got an accurate diagnoses of a chronic health issue that was contributing to my weight gain and several other medical issues. Working with a VA dietician, I was able to adjust my diet to try and correct the issue.
On April 1, 2022 I weighed in at 360. Over the course of the next 12 months I lost a total of 80 pounds and lost over 6 inches around my waist.
In June of 2022, I had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in my knee. Once I was given the go ahead by my doctor, I started a gym membership and I now go 4 to 5 times a week. I now walk 4 miles a day and ride 12 miles on the exercise bike 4 to 5 times a week.
For the first time in 20 years, I am able to button the top button on my dress shirts. I have been able to buy clothes right off the rack (instead of ordering online due to my size) for the first time in decades. And, I have come off my diabetic medication and lowered the dosage on several of my other meds. I am able to climb stairs easily now whereas I could not a year ago.
And, this is just the beginning.
I am currently aiming for the goal of being under 250 pounds at which time I plan to get a tattoo to mark my success.
I will get another tattoo when I get to 200.
