Post Body

It's been a while since I've written in this thing. With all my self-deprecation aside, I have ideas about what I can do as a musician, and writer. I've been watching Nerdwriter1 and I think I know how to better my 'crafts'. If I ever start writing music, mainly Rock, I want all of my songs to finish with an unresolved chord and have the next song chronologically in an album or whatever to start with the resolved chord of the last song. For example, if I end the song on an augmented 7th chord of whatever key, I'll start the next song I write with a chord either above or below that resolves the tension. That way, listening to my songs will seem seamless and natural; like a narrative that happens throughout the songs and maybe I'll do that, too in my lyrics. In my writing, I realized that I have a problem with just writing for 'moments' and not 'scenes'. My early book sucked because it was just a compilation of what I thought were cool moments and not cohesive scenes. The character interaction was lackluster and character motivation only ran skin deep. I had written caricatures and not characters. They didn't move the plot, I did. Plus, I was so focused on it to be an action-comedy while not having a great grasp of either. Writing characters and writing their interactions that may or may not propel the plot is what I need to work on. I don't have to make it challenge social norms or be groundbreaking in the subject matter. I just need to make it cohesive and believable.
